Spring NOTD

The weather this weekend has been glorious and everyone seems to be in a good mood because of it. I would have liked to have gone out for the day but the trains are closed for engineering work and I can't be faffed with rail replacement buses so I'm currently enjoying the sunshine from my sister's bedroom with a large cup of tea and a biscuit (or two).

I decided to paint my nails in keeping with the weather and to me, nothing screams "Spring" more than pastels. My favourite two colours Barry M Mint Green and Berry Ice Cream go so well together, don't you think?

What are you wearing on your nails at the moment? Hope everyone else has had a good weekend xx

My wedding makeup

Base: Olay UV Fluid with SPF15, MAC Face & Body foundation in C4, MAC Select Moisturecover concealer in NC42 & Keromask Mineral Finishing Powder.

Blush: Nars Orgasm & Torrid

Eyes: MAC Mulch eyeshadow, Blacktrack fluidline, MUFE Smoky lash mascara and MAC #10 lashes applied with Duo lash glue.

Lips: Carmex and MAC Creme in your coffee lipstick.

Brushes: MAC 209 for eyeliner, ELF angled contour brush (not pictured) for eyeshadow, ELF stipple brush for foundation (not pictured), Gotta B Urban bronzer brush used for blush & ELF powder brush for powder

L-R: Nars Orgasm, Nars Torrid, MAC Mulch & MAC Creme in your coffee.

I was supposed to have my own little makeup trials with different looks but that soooo didn't happen and on the day I played it by ear and just ended up using some of my favourite products. MUFE Smoky lash mascara is the best I've ever tried!! I bought this one brand new in a blog sale last year but was saving it for special occasions. If it wasn't so expensive to buy in the UK I would repurchase over and over again. I was also really pleased with MAC face & body, it was so lightweight it felt like I wasn't wearing any foundation at all. I also cannot stop fawning over Nar's Torrid, it's a beautiful coral which everyone must buy!

So to sum up, my make up was not perfect at all nor was it upto a professional standard but I felt comfortable and it worked for me :)

1.10.11

I've had my wedding photos for a while now but haven't had the time to share them or even blog (sorry). Planned to do a long post but photos speak for themselves I guess. To cut a long story short I was the sickest I had ever been (chest infection + fever + mild asthma) and was on antibiotics so things didn't turn out as planned but I felt so awful that I gave up caring and just went with the flow.

Arriving late to the registry office

I did my own makeup (mostly MAC) and kept it to a bare minimum. I'll do a separate post on what I used but here's the best pic of my lipstick - MAC's Creme in your coffee.

I didn't want to spend a grand on a wedding dress I'd wear for a couple of hours so mine was £90 (originally £200) from Debenhams which I got altered. My lace jacket/shrug was from ebay! / I couldn't get my perfect bouquet as the flowers I wanted weren't in season so instead of paying £80 for a standard rose bouquet, I made my own. Thanks M&S

After agonising over the perfect nude nail colour which I never found I went for classic red on my nails (Barry M) and my favourite pink (once again Barry M) for a flash of colour on my toes.

Our wedding reception was held at Conway Hall in Holborn and we had around 100 guests which is quite small for an "Asian" wedding but perfect for us. I spent almost £300 on paper lanterns and the colour scheme was a blush/peach and ivory but the DJ lights turned them multicoloured - doh!

My ~*~Bollywood~*~ stage

One of my favourite photos, my two best friends, my sister and I

During the Nikah (religious ceremony), I was applying eyeliner which I hadn't had time to do in the morning. I also had to fix my wonky eyelash which someone moved when they kissed me on the cheek. Check out my missing earring haha

My veil was the one my mum wore when she got married 27 years ago :)

So I didn't end up walking down the aisle to "Marry You" but my new brother in law sang it for all our guests. My DJ initially suggested Jagged Edge's "Let's get married" or "Wifey" for my entrance but thankfully settled for some random song! / The most hideous wedding cake you've ever seen. The trick is to check that the cake peeps know what colours are. Yellow is not peach!!!! My fault for trying to colour scheme it up.

So my wedding wasn't very conventional and perhaps some people wouldn't be caught dead in a high street wedding dress but to us the most important thing was getting married and celebrating the occasion with our close family and friends. Despite the wedding cake fail, half done makeup and other things not going to plan, we had a great day!
