Revlon Lip Butter: Sweet Tart

The Revlon Lip Butters have been around for a while now and I'm sure most of you are sick to death of reading about them but I'm so in love with this shade that I had to blog about it. I bought my lip butters when they were on promotion in Boots - 3 for 2, and Sweet Tart was a sort of random choice as I didn't really know what to choose for my 3rd pick and I was more excited about Lollipop and Raspberry Pie. That said, I favour Sweet Tart so much more and I rarely wear the other two! The majority of the lip butters aren't very pigmented but this one is opaque in several swipes. My top lip is a deeper shade than the bottom but it covers them evenly and it's a joy to apply. It's a cross between a lipstick and a lip balm, veering more towards the lipstick side and the finish is slightly glossy. It's very forgiving on a dry lip (thankfully) but as it's a "lip butter" it does wear off easily.

It's my go to shade at the moment, I can't get enough! If you're on the look out for a new pink lipstick maybe give this one a go? I think it's the type of pink that's universally flattering. Most of the other shades are too sheer for me but I also like the look of Berry Smoothie and Candy Apple. Do you own any lip butters? I'm also looking forward to the Just Bitten Balm Stains which I hope will land in the UK soon.

EOTD: Coppery Goodness

A boring Friday night in and I got fed up of watching CSI repeats so might as well do a blog post featuring my gormless face and chapped lips (it was either this or the moody cow photo). This is a look I did the other day after watching this Pixiwoo video.

I used the metallic copper and metallic brown shadow in my Sleek Storm palette, MAC blacktrack fluidline on the waterline and tightlined, Revlon Grow Luscious mascara and the much needed MAC select moisturecover concealer in NC42.

Hope your Friday night is faring better than mine xx

Revlon Grow Luscious mascara

The first Revlon mascara I have ever tried and to be honest I was wary as I have not read good things about them. However after seeing how well it worked for Sarah from Tacky Blue Eyeshadow, I had to try it out!

What do Revlon say about this mascara?

"Lash enhancing formula complements the natural growth cycle of your lashes, improving their overall appearance and conditioning with each use".

"Get lashes that look instantly longer and lusher and will also grow stronger day after day".

What do I think?

I like the green tube and the brush is HUGE! It took a while to get used to it but I no longer poke myself in the eye. So if you hate big brushes, stay clear.

I can't say I've noticed a considerable difference in the condition or length of my lashes but I do really like this mascara nevertheless.

It  makes my lashes look really long and isn't clumpy at all. I don't have the waterproof version but for me this doesn't flake, even after a long day. It's the perfect work mascara.

Not sure I would buy this again because there's so many other mascaras I want to try but if you were curious about it and like lengthening mascaras, I would reccommend you try it.

NOTD: Barry M Limited Edition 030

Sorry for two nail polish related posts in a row but I found this Barry M polish today and I had to apply it as soon as I got home. I actually went into Boots to see if I could find their new Instant Nail Effects polish but also spied this beauty. I can't find it on the website but the sticker says "Boots Limited Edition 030" so perhaps you can only buy it there? Anyway I got both for a fiver (don't know how long this offer lasts).

Like every other Barry M polish, it's a two coat job (but one would be okay too). I'm hoping this will last because I loooove the vibrant glossy colour and I really think it suits my skintone.

At first I thought it was too similar to Blueberry Ice Cream, which it appears to be judging by the bottle. However I compared swatches along with Revlon's Plum Seduction and you can see the results for yourself - it's between a plum and lilac colour.

oh Barry M, you never fail to disappoint with your nail paints.

Revlon Floral Affair

I first came across these blushers after seeing them featured in a fashion/makeup editorial in a magazine a while back. I couldn't find these anywhere, not even in large Boots stores so I had to resort to ebay. However I refused to pay silly amounts and my patience paid off in the end as I snapped these up for £6 inc delivery. They are sheer powder blushers made up of three complementing shades that can be worn individually or swirled together to create one shade which I love the idea of!

Pinking of You: This is the one I searched for high and low. I love pink blushers and this is a beautiful one.

The three colours are a pale pink, a rose pink and a coral pink. And on the right is the shade when all three are swirled together. It is matte and I like that you can build the colour up depending on your preference and it will still be muted and not too brazen.

Hushed Blush: Since all my blushers are pink I thought I'd try something different and went for this peachy colour.

There is a light pinky peach, a deep pink and a true peach colour which are all shimmery. I love the shade that it becomes when mixed together, however it doesn't show up well on my skintone so I've been using this as a highlighter rather than blush. I've read that some people find it comparable to Nar's Orgasm? But I've never tried it, so I can't comment.

I wore these two shades out last night (Pinking of You as blush and Hushed Blush as a highlighter) and they looked fab. They lasted a while but I am always touching my face so it usually rubs off sooner. I don't think there's one thing I dislike about these blushers. The only thing is that I will be sad when the embossed patterns will be worn down after use.

Top 3 polishes

My entry into Hele and Holly's Nails Inc giveaway over at The Nail Buff

It was really hard to choose just three, but I managed to narrow it down to these.

-Barry M nail paint in Shocking Pink. I will never tire of bubblegum hot pink polishes and this is my favourite. I always wear it on my toes - looks great whilst wearing flip flops!

-Collection 2000 Hot Looks in Dynasty. Although I only got this the other week, it has graced my fingernails since. I usually stick to bright pinks and this is the first lilac toned colour I've come across that's suited me. Love it!

- Revlon nail enamel in Cherries in the Snow. I was looking for a darker pink that wasn't verging towards maroon, like a true raspberry colour and came across this. It's a more grown up and sophisticated pink and I like wearing it just on the tips sometimes.
